Do you provide legal services?

No. A.Y.Bassam & Co. LLP provides tax planning, insurance planning coordination, accounting, and business advisory services. Legal documents and legal opinions are provided only by independently licensed attorneys or law firms retained for that purpose. Where legal work is needed, we coordinate closely with the appropriate counsel.

Do you prepare tax returns?

We may provide tax-preparation services where engaged to do so. Many of our client relationships are planning-focused rather than preparation-focused, though the two often run in parallel.

Do you sell insurance?

Insurance planning and strategy are part of our advisory work. Implementation — the actual placement of insurance products — is handled through the separately licensed insurance producer entity. Any compensation received in connection with insurance placement is disclosed as required.

Can you work with my existing attorney, CPA, or financial advisor?

Yes. Coordination with outside professionals is a central element of how we work. We are designed to improve the coherence of your planning team, not to replace it.

Do you work only with families who have a child with special needs?

No. Special needs family planning remains our founding mission and a signature area of the practice. We also advise business owners, high-income households, physicians, real estate investors, and internationally connected families with complex planning needs.

 

Can you help before a business sale or succession?

Yes, and the earlier the better. Pre-transaction planning typically creates more options and better outcomes than planning that begins after terms are agreed.

Do you work with international families?

Yes, where the engagement fits the firm's current scope and the necessary outside coordination can be assembled. Cross-border planning is an area of particular depth for this practice.

Do you guarantee tax savings?

No. We provide analysis, recommendations, and professional judgment. Outcomes depend on the client's facts, timing, applicable law, and execution. Any firm that guarantees a specific tax outcome is telling you something that warrants careful scrutiny.
